setup & usage

⚠ get a serpapi key

create an api key (private api key) in your serpapi dashboard.

  • paste it into your oto connectors on /account
  • members can also use the platform key (daily quota)
    • ▸ multi-engine search

    reaches engines that serper does not have: google verticals (trends, finance, flights, hotels, events, jobs), bing, youtube and marketplaces.

  • serpapi_search(engine=…) — any serpapi engine: bing, youtube, amazon, walmart, ebay, google_events, and the generic one (google_play, duckduckgo, yelp…)
  • serpapi_jobs(op="search"|"details") — job posting sourcing via google jobs (the job_id for the details comes out of the search)
  • serpapi_google_trends — interest over time / by region for a term
  • serpapi_google_finance / serpapi_google_flights / serpapi_google_hotels — quotes, flights, hotels

    under a project with excluded_url_prefixes, serpapi_search drops the matching results — whatever the engine — and says so (excluded_by_perimeter). verticals with their own contract (jobs, trends, finance, flights, hotels) do not return web pages and are not filtered. details: docs/projects.md.

    ⚙ multiple comptes

    this connector accepts multiple comptes: each stored credential becomes a named account (one name per compte), at your level, your team's or your org's.

  • the first one doesn't need a name; from the second on, each one carries its own (the first then takes the name "principal", renamable)
  • without specification, the agent takes the only stored compte, otherwise the one marked as default; otherwise the call is refused, naming the available comptes — never a random choice
  • target a compte for a call: _account="<name>" on the tool; list them: oto_identity(op='list', connector='serpapi') (scope='org' or scope='group' for the org's or team's)
  • set the default: oto_identity(op='set', connector='serpapi', identity_id='<name>'); rename: op='rename' with new_name
  • ⚠️ no tool walks through the comptes on its own: a total across several comptes is obtained by calling each one (_account) and adding up
